Sapsford Wines are Mary and Barry Sapsford, a husband and wife partnership. The wines that we list are particular to us and every bottle has a “face” that we know and have found for ourselves. In the main our customers are restaurants and golf clubs although we do have a thriving list of private customers and also give talks and tastings regularly to wine clubs and groups all over the country.

We started 21 years ago as Loire Valley specialists with over 60 wines from the Loire Valley. We started to diversify into other regions in the early 1990’s. We began to stock wines from Bordeaux.Then, Burgundy, Alsace, Cotes du Rhone, Languedoc, Corbiéres, St.Chinian, Crémant de Limoux and Champagne all joined the party.

We have always tried to trade with individuals and families rather than big corporations. We love to find wines made with lesser know grapes; there is more to wine than Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. We look for wines with character that have been made with some passion and offer good value for money.

It can be especially interesting to take one grape variety and taste the variation that is possible using it on its own or with a companion grape. The faults of a single variety can be balanced by a second variety.
